Can I drive my car without an MOT?
No, it is not allowed.
An MOT certificate expires at midnight on the specified date. While it is advisable not to wait until the last minute for your MOT test, delaying it poses the risk of being without your vehicle in case it fails.
Nevertheless, you are permitted to drive to and from an MOT testing station if the appointment has been scheduled. However if the vehicle has a dangerous defect you must have the vehicle recovered or delivered to your chosen garage.
Additionally, you can book an MOT test up to 28 days before the current certificate expires.
Driving a vehicle without a valid MOT may lead to a fine.
