Your Trusted Tyre Specialists

What we do. If you have concerns about your tyre condition or would like our tyre specialists to assess them and provide recommendations for suitable replacements, a thorough inspection is necessary. This involves lifting the car off the ground to rotate the wheels, allowing us to examine the entire tyre for any uneven wear or damage. Uneven road surfaces and the stresses of driving can lead to non-uniform tyre wear.

A quick visual check on a forecourt may not provide a comprehensive assessment, and drivers should not assume their vehicle is safe and road-legal based solely on this cursory examination.

Our tyre technicians will visually check your tyres for depth grip, air pressures, condition to ensure there are no visible bulges, bumps, cuts, cracks, tears or cords showing, date of manufacture, wheel condition, valve condition, if the tyres are evenly worn and so on. We also examine the spare tyre or the expiration date of your puncture kit, ensuring you're never left feeling deflated.

This not only safeguards the integrity of your tires but, more importantly, ensures the safety of the passengers you carry.

Do not Ignore Your Tyres… the risks!

Drivers who fail to comply with the regulations face a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points for each illegal tyre. Your car insurance will be invalid if your tyres are illegal. You could cause an accident and injure others with dangerous tyres.

What are the common issues with tyres?

Discovering common issues with tyres involves recognising various factors that can impact their performance and safety. Uneven wear, caused by factors like misalignment or improper inflation, is a frequent concern that can compromise traction and handling. Low tread depth the legal tread limit is 1.6mm, but we’d recommend replacing a tyre once the tread is below 3mm, as you’ll start losing grip on the road. Cracks in the sidewall Tyres can break down over time and with UV exposure. Air loss If you notice your tyres losing pressure faster than usual, you may have a slow puncture or valve air leakage. Vibration when drivingExcessive vibration through the steering wheel might mean there is a bulge on your tyre. Age of tyres will naturally wear over time and should be replaced approx every five years.

How often should I check my tyres?

Ideally, at least once a month depending on how often you drive your car. This will ensure that your tyres are correctly inflated and will reduce your fuel consumption, maintain braking distance and reduce the chance of costly fines.

What is the minimum legal tyre tread depth?

Car and van drivers must adhere to the legal tyre depth limit, which requires a minimum of 1.6mm of tread across the central three-quarters of the tyre.

What tyre pressure should my tyres be?

Tyre pressure varies for every make and model of car. If you’re unsure, check your vehicle’s handbook or the sill of the driver’s side door. Newer vehicles, may have electronic pressure monitoring of which will be displayed on the dashboards by entering the menu settings.
